Wedding Invitations (Day)
The Wedding or Day invitations are used to invite your guests to the ceremony itself and / or party afterwards. They can be used for both religious and civil ceremonies. You will need separate evening invitations to invite those guests that you wish to come to the evening reception only. You may also wish to include reply (RSVP) cards to ensure that guests send their replies back quickly.
A common mistake is to assume that you need one invitation per guest. This is of course not true and it is only necessary to send one invitation per household.
The wedding invitation is a good way of communicating other details to your guests. If you organise yourself you can enclose details of your wedding list, directions to your wedding venue and reception, maybe even a copy of the menu if you need your guests to confirm their meal option. Since most people have access to the internet these days you may choose to set up your own wedding website to include this information. You can then ask your stationer to print your personal web address on your invitations.
It is usual to send your Wedding Invitations out 6-8 weeks before your wedding date but you may choose longer if your wedding falls during the busy summer months or over a bank holiday weekend. Remember to include the delivery time from your wedding stationery supplier. Delivery times can vary from 2 weeks to up to 10 weeks from different suppliers and times of the year. Many suppliers offer an express service for delivery with a specified time period. You will of course, pay a premium for this service which usually ranges between £30.00 - £100.00 per order depending on rthe supplier
Remember to include an RSVP address on your invitations, and/or telephone number and keep a list of replies so you can tick them off as your guests respond. You may like to specify an RSVP before date so that you get your responses back before in good time. This can be especially important if your venue wishes to confirm a final numbers of guests with you weeks before your wedding day. It is also important to have a detailed guest list if you intend to have a personalised Table Plan
