Menus
If coordinated with the rest of your wedding stationery, menus can provide an attractive look to your table plan arrangements. You should'nt feel obliged to provide them because unlike a restaurant menu there is usually little choice if any at all.
As well as the menu details themself it is usual to have the bride and grooms married names and the weeding date printed on the facing page of the menu insert. You may also choose to print the wines served and names of the persons giving the key speeches. Do not get carried however, unlike the Order of Service it is unlikely your supplier will print multiple pages on your reception menus and as the format of a menu is often long and narrow there is usually less space for wording.
It is often best to leave your caterers to provide the descriptions of the courses. Try not to go too overboard with the adjectives to describe how mouthwatering a course is. It is usual to capitalise the first letters of the food itself whilst leaving the adjoing words in lowercase. For example :-
Wild Mushroom Tartlet with Gruyere Cheese and Caramelised Onions accompanied with a Gazpacho Sauce
You may have already used your Reply cards to determine whether your guests have any dietary requirements but you may wish to add in small print any common allergy ingredients which are not obvious by the description of the dish to the menu. For example whether any of the dishes contain nuts.
If small children are attending your wedding breakfast it is usual to have different courses to cater for. A nice touch is to include a separate printed childrens menu at the table to make them feel part of your day. May wedding stationery suppliers will print two styles of insert wording at no extra cost.
